Province Workshop

Brothers,

I am pleased to announce a contest seeking new fraternal music for our province. The purpose of the contest is to provide our province at least three new songs for four part men's chorus and to give our membership an opportunity to share their talents with the province.

Brothers,

At the recent 2009 Spring Fling/Province Council the province approved grants totaling more than $600 for registration to the 53rd National Convention in Orlando, Florida from July 15 - 19, 2009.

Details for the 2009 NCMEA Conference will be posted in the Fall. We will again have a brother dinner on the Sunday evening.

Brothers,
We are seeking volunteers to create a Province level committee with the mandate to continue to decrease our percentage of unmailable alumni. Province 20 has decreased its percentage of unmailable alumni from 19.51% in June 2008 to 17.58% in February 2009, which translates into 62 alumni that were found. There are still 650 unmailable alumni of active and inactive chapters in Province 20. All of the 62 alumni that were found in the last 6 months were from active chapters.

The mandate for this committee will be to:

Province 20 is ranked 2nd in the nation for the percentage of mailable alumni in December 2008 with 676 unmailable alumni, 18.39% of total alumni. The last report in September indicated that Province 20 had 714 unmailable alumni, 19.52% of total alumni. Four chapters in the province led the way in finding lost alumni since September: Alpha Rho- 20, UNC Chapel Hill- Zeta Psi- 11, Winston-Salem State- Mu Beta- 4, NC Central University- Rho Beta- 2, and UNC Greensboro- Iota Epsilon- 1.

On Sunday the following 12 brothers signed the petition to start the Metrolina Alumni Association in Charlotte, NC.

Larry Marks
Robert Carrington
Patrick Clancy
Joseph Aycock
Kendrick D. Smith
Harvey E. Cummings II
William Saunders
Rudy Hawley II
John Paul Johns
James Flynn
Eric Griggs
O'Nicholas Lindsey

In addition to the petition, the following officers were elected:

President: Joseph Aycock
Vice-President: John Paul Jones
Treasurer: Michael T. Sanders
Secretary: Rudy Hawley
Member: at-large- O'Nicholas Lindsey

Brothers,
In the next few weeks, we are expecting the formation of SEVERAL alumni associations across the state. The structure of these groups will be similar in that their goal is to provide a way for alumni within a community to connect with each other and the fraternity with little time commitment. These groups will be set up in a way that requires only one business meeting per year for the purpose of elect officers and establishing 6-10 social events for the year. Events could include going to a local symphony concert, minor league baseball game, brewery, super bowl part, etc.

DeanDear Brothers:

It is with mixed feelings that I write to you today. For the past nine years I have had the distinct honor and pleasure of serving as your governor but this upcoming province workshop will be my last as your governor. This decision has come after much internal debate and consultation with my family and my brothers.
