In the next few weeks, we are expecting the formation of SEVERAL alumni associations across the state. The structure of these groups will be similar in that their goal is to provide a way for alumni within a community to connect with each other and the fraternity with little time commitment. These groups will be set up in a way that requires only one business meeting per year for the purpose of elect officers and establishing 6-10 social events for the year. Events could include going to a local symphony concert, minor league baseball game, brewery, super bowl part, etc.
Chartering an Alumni Association is relatively easy. An interest group must send $100 and a petition signed by 12 alumni to the Phi Mu Alpha Headquarters. We are currently focusing our efforts on chartering Alumni Associations in Charlotte, Fayetteville, Winston-Salem, and Greensboro.

There are 1866 alumni Sinfonians in North Carolina. The 10 cities in North Carolina with the most alumni Sinfonians living in the proper city limits are:

Winston-Salem- 77
Durham- 74
Boone- 59
Asheville- 52
Fayetteville- 48
Greenville- 40
Chapel Hill- 37

If you live in one of these cities and would be interested in joining an alumni association if one was founded in your area, please contact me at tysorkg@yahoo.com. Once 12 people in your area have expressed interest, we will schedule a meeting to charter an association. It is that easy!!
